Montréal-based musician Kee Avil continues to push the boundaries of experimental music with her latest single release, “do this again,” from her upcoming album, “Spine.” Following the success of her debut LP, “Crease,” which garnered critical acclaim from esteemed outlets like The Wire, The Quietus, and Mojo, Avil’s sophomore effort promises to delve even deeper into the avant-garde realm.
The track “do this again” embodies Avil’s signature blend of intricate instrumentation and haunting vocals, creating an atmosphere that is both fragile and queasy.

“Spine,” the forthcoming album, marks a departure from Avil’s heavily textured compositions, opting instead for a rawer, more stripped-back sound. Described by Avil herself as “urgent music that reflects the precarity of modern life,” the album tackles themes of time, remembrance, and decay, all within a minimalist framework.
Produced in collaboration with Zach Scholes, “Spine” emerged in a matter of months, showcasing Avil’s dedication to evolving her sound while maintaining her distinctive artistic vision. Reflecting on the creative process behind the album, Avil explains, “This record was much harder, like it was really discovering everything from scratch.”
