Charlotte Cardin released a new single, The Way We Touch, this week alongside a music video directed by Glenn Michael. The track arrives just weeks after Cardin won Female Artist of the Year at France’s Victoires de la Musique, extending a run that has pushed the Montreal singer further into international territory.
The new song was written and produced in Montreal with longtime collaborators Jason Brando and Sam Avant. Built around a slow, tension-heavy groove and a saxophone line that anchors the arrangement, The Way We Touch moves between pop, alternative pop, and soul-leaning textures. The track follows last year’s Tant pis pour elle and begins a new release cycle expected to lead to Cardin’s third album later this year.
Cardin said the song connects directly to her earliest memories of making music. “This track takes me back to when my sister and I used to film our own music videos with the family VHS camera, while wearing my mother’s jewelry,” she said in a statement. “It’s both playful and freeing, connecting me to the place where my love for music began.”
The accompanying video leans into the song’s restrained sensuality. Shot in black and white, the clip places Cardin in a stripped-back visual setting that echoes the aesthetic language of her earlier releases while sharpening the image of a pop artist now working on a larger stage.

The single arrives during a year that has already reshaped Cardin’s profile outside Canada. In February she became the first artist to win both Artist of the Year at the Junos and Female Artist of the Year at France’s Victoires de la Musique. The recognition has accelerated a touring schedule across Europe and North America, along with appearances tied to Paris fashion week.
Cardin will headline Accor Arena in Paris on April 30, a 15,000-capacity venue that sold out nearly a year in advance. The show marks the largest headline performance of her career and reflects a steady expansion that began with her debut album Phoenix and continued through the darker, more atmospheric follow-up 99 Nights.
The Way We Touch now opens the next chapter of that trajectory. More music is expected in the coming months as Cardin prepares the release of her third studio album.
