Formed in Houston in 1969, ZZ Top gained widespread recognition with their third album, Tres Hombres (1973), which included the hit “La Grange.” Their unique blend of blues-based rock, combined with sharp lyrics and the unmistakable beards of Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill, became their trademark. The 1980s saw the band reach new heights with Eliminator (1983), featuring hits like “Gimme All Your Lovin’” and “Sharp Dressed Man,” propelled by the then-nascent music video era.
Despite the loss of bassist Dusty Hill in 2021, the band continues to tour, with longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis stepping in on bass. “Dusty insisted the show go on,” Gibbons said in a 2021 interview, reflecting the band’s unwavering commitment to their music and fans.
ZZ Top’s upcoming performance promises to be a celebration of their enduring legacy, blending decades of hits with their signature Southern swagger. Fans can expect a mix of classics and more recent material as the band proves their longevity in an ever-changing music landscape.
