The defiant energy of Vulgaires Machins shows no sign of fading. The veteran Quebec punk band returns with L’Effondrement qui vient, the third single from its upcoming album Contempler l’abîme, due November 14. The track, featuring Jenny “J. Kyll” Salgado of Muzion, looks squarely at the collapse of modern systems — and raises a glass amid the wreckage.
True to form, Contempler l’abîme pairs sharp political and social commentary with an expanded sound palette. Alongside their trademark punk edge, the band ventures into new wave textures and even symphonic orchestrations, working with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra to heighten the scale. The lineup of Guillaume Beauregard (vocals, guitar), Marie-Ève Roy (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Maxime Beauregard (bass), and Pat Sayers (drums) sounds poised to deliver their most ambitious record yet.
The release marks another chapter in a career stretching back to 1995. From breakout albums like Aimer le mal and Compter les corps to the comeback record Disruption in 2022, Vulgaires Machins have long been a rallying point for socially conscious punk in Quebec. Their mix of fury, melody, and message has carried them through sold-out tours and award nods from ADISQ to the Junos.
The band will bring its new material to stages across Quebec and France in early 2026, including stops at Beanfield Theatre in Montreal on March 13, Imperial Bell in Quebec City on March 21, and Le Trou du Diable in Shawinigan on March 11. The tour follows European dates in February, with more shows to be announced.
