Vitalia Explores the Highs and Lows of Love with “molly”

Montreal based indie artist Vitalia recently unveiled her latest single, “molly,” a Sapphic pop track delving into the intoxicating highs of attraction and the emotional fallout that often follows. The song is the newest glimpse into her upcoming debut EP, slated for spring 2025.

A graduate of Concordia University’s jazz program, Vitalia blends pop, funk, disco, and alternative rock influences into her distinctive sound. “molly,” co-written with producer Michael Go and mixed by Will Owen Bennett, captures a tension-filled emotional narrative set against a haunting indie-pop backdrop. The track’s production draws comparisons to the moody stylings of Billie Eilish, while its raw lyrics and cinematic layers add depth to the emotionally charged storytelling.

Vitalia’s lyrics liken the exhilaration of new love to the effects of a drug—a rush that can leave you spinning before the inevitable crash. Vitalia reflected on the song’s thematic core: “‘molly” captures the whirlwind experience of falling for someone who changes your life in an instant, showing you a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled way of living. It’s about the rush of connection and the crash of being left behind when they run from the very love they ignited, comparing love to a drug that lifts you up and leaves you crashing down.”

This single builds on the momentum of Vitalia’s growing presence in the Canadian music scene. Her previous work includes the poignant “Land of Black,” written as a tribute to Ukrainians affected by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
