GRAMMY-nominated Tennessee-born artist, Valerie June. In 2021, she released her album The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers (March 12, Fantasy Records). The project, Valerie’s follow-up to her acclaimed 2017 release The Order of Time—which earned the admiration of Bob Dylan and landed on numerous best-of-the-year lists.
This week the singer released a Deluxe Edition of the album – this time, featuring 23 tracks, the album’s 14 originals, six reimagined, acoustic versions and three cover songs that connect to the album theme, including Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, John Lennon’s Imagine and Stephen Foster’s Beautiful Dreamer.
The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamersdraws inspiration from joyful possibility, blending elements of Americana, folk, soul, gospel, country, blues, psychedelia, and pop, working alongside a diverse lineup of esteemed musicians and co-produced between Valerie and Jack Splash (Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, John Legend).
You and I, the standout lead track from The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions For Dreamers is also featured in Apple’s brand-new #ShotOniPhone film which debuted globally last year. The poignant short film is called Saving Simon and was directed by Oscar Nominee, Jason Reitman, and his father, Oscar Nominee, Ivan Reitman.
