UK indie-rock outfit Panchiko are back on the road. After a surprise reunion and critically acclaimed sophomore album in 2023, the band are about to embark on another North American.

They’ve also hinted at fresh material, teasing “brand new pop songs” currently in the works.

The tour kicked off in Berkeley, California and winds down in San Diego on May 19th. Montreal fans can catch Panchiko at La Tulipe on May 1st. Joining them will be They Are Gutting a Body of Water and Weatherday.

Formed in Nottingham sometime in the late 90s, Panchiko achieved a unique kind of fame long after disbanding. In 2016, a 4chan user stumbled upon a 2000 demo EP in a charity shop, sparking a dedicated online fanbase for the then-unknown band. This “lost media” status propelled Panchiko into cult status, with fans meticulously piecing together the band’s history.

Unaware of their newfound following, Panchiko themselves remained inactive until 2020, when a determined fan tracked down frontman Owain Davies on Facebook. This connection reignited the band, leading to their 2023 reunion and a whole new chapter for Panchiko.
