Théâtre St-Denis is marking its 110th anniversary in 2026 with a year of programming, a new historical exhibit, and a $3 million private investment to update the venue’s technical setup. The theatre, part of the Espace St-Denis complex in the Latin Quarter, is also introducing a new visual identity that will appear across its spaces and platforms over the coming months.
The investment focuses on equipment and infrastructure, aiming to align the venue with current production demands. Espace St-Denis states that the upgrades aim to enhance the theatre’s adaptability for touring shows and larger-scale productions. The venue continues to draw a steady audience each year and remains a regular stop for major runs in the Quartier des Spectacles.
Programming tied to the anniversary includes a mix of touring productions and Quebec-based work. Confirmed titles include Les Misérables, STING 3.0, and ABBA Celebration, along with Félix, I Remember. More announcements are expected as the year unfolds, alongside a schedule that will see hundreds of performances across the complex.
A historical installation has been developed with researchers from UQAM and will be presented in the theatre’s foyer. The exhibit traces 12 moments from the venue’s history using archival material, with research led by doctoral student Gabrielle Pomerleau under the supervision of Lucie K. Morisset. It focuses on the artists and productions that have passed through the space over more than a century.
As part of the changes, the Studio-Cabaret space has been renamed Studio St-Denis. A series of short web features is also planned, centred on artists connected to the venue over the years.
