The Red Clay Strays + Brent Cobb @ MTelus

Montreal is becoming a country music hub, and I’m loving it! On Saturday night, we had the pleasure of welcoming Alabama’s The Red Clay Strays at MTELUS.

The room was buzzing with excitement, and to kick off the show, we had Georgia-born singer-songwriter Brent Cobb. He’s a prolific songwriter who’s written songs for some of the biggest country acts, like Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, and Kenny Chesney.

We soon found out he’s got some serious talent; he can sing like nobody’s business! He performed a great set; I especially loved his first song, Keep ’Em on Their Toes, and Shine on Rainy Day. It’s clear this guy has a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to see more of him.

The anticipation was high, and then The Red Clay Strays came out to a huge roar! The fans were ready, and guess what? Some of the crew and musicians were wearing Montreal Canadiens jerseys—that was a really cool touch.

They started the show with Good Godly Woman, and kept the energy up for the rest of the night. This was their first time performing in Montreal and their first tour in Canada, and they were so excited. They heard that the Montreal crowd would be the wildest of the tour, and in true Montreal style, we didn’t disappoint! The party went on all night!

Led by Brandon Coleman, this band of country rockers gave us a solid and consistent performance. Highlights were a cover of Swamp Music, with Brent Cobb joining them, along with I’m Still Fine, Sunshine, and the closing song, No One Else Like Me. This band is definitely destined for stardom; they’re even nominated as one of the Country Music Association’s New Artists of the Year.

It was an amazing night of music. I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll keep saying it: I love how Montreal is becoming a country town. Heehaw, let’s go!
