The National’s Matt Berninger Brings Solo Tour to Montreal

After a year of European and American dates, The National‘s baritone voice is finally heading coast to coast north of the border. Matt Berninger has announced a seven-city Canadian tour for March 2026, bringing his sophomore solo record Get Sunk to stages from Vancouver to Montreal.

The tour kicks off March 10 at Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre before sweeping through Edmonton’s Midway Music Hall (March 12), Calgary’s Jack Singer Concert Hall (March 13), and Winnipeg’s Burton Cummings Theatre (March 15). From there, Berninger returns to Toronto for a March 19 performance at the historic Massey Hall, a venue befitting the intimacy and gravitas of his solo work. The tour wraps with shows in Ottawa at The Bronson (March 20) and Montreal’s Beanfield Theatre (March 21).

Vancouver singer-songwriter Hannah Georgas will open every date.

Released earlier this year, Get Sunk finds Berninger collaborating with Grammy-winning producer Sean O’Brien in a Silverlake basement studio, crafting songs that lean into the contemplative narratives he’s known for while drawing on new inspirations. After relocating from Los Angeles to Connecticut, the songwriter found himself surrounded by woods and wildlife, a shift that seeped into the album’s textures. The record features contributions from Meg Duffy of Hand Habits, Booker T. Jones, and members of The National and The Walkmen, resulting in a sonic landscape that feels both expansive and deeply personal.

Tickets go on sale Friday, December 6 at 10 a.m. local time, with a presale running Thursday, December 5 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. using the code REMIX.

For Montreal fans who’ve followed Berninger’s work with The National through sold-out shows at Métropolis and festival appearances, this rare solo appearance offers a more stripped-down encounter with one of indie rock’s most distinctive voices.
