Brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch’s alt-pop band The Driver Era electrified MTELUS on Monday, May 6th, selling out the theatre for their crowd of swooning fans.
Opening the night with their hits ‘Back To You’ and ‘Get Off My Phone’, the band stepped on stage to greet their screaming crowd. The young fanbase went all out to show their love for the band, wearing t-shirts and holding signs that playfully read “LYNCH’S WHORES,” “SIGN MY TITS,” and “TAKE MY VIRGINITY.”

Continuing with the groovy surf-rock “Malibu” and the salty dance-pop “Rumors”, the band bantered with their adoring audience, who were now chanting “TAKE IT OFF!”, referring to Ross’ shirt.
The band then played a soulful cover of Kings of Leon’s ‘Your Sex On Fire’ and a keyboard rendition of Ross’ solo song ‘On My Own’: showing their emotional range as a group and holding an intimate moment in the theatre. Everyone’s flashlight was on and waving during ‘San Francisco,’ and you could hear a pin drop as Ross delivered his heartfelt lyrics of heartbreak and forgiveness.

After an impressive guitar solo from Rocky during Take Me Away, the band concluded their set with the upbeat Preacher Man, before returning for an encore with ‘Afterglow’. “This next song goes out to all those memories you wish would last forever,” said Ross as he introduced the final song.
The energy of this concert was exhilarating and continuously generated by the band’s relationship and banter with their fans, who screamed along loyally to every word. The upbeat music, Ross’ emotionally resonant lyrics, Rocky’s slick electric guitar solos, and the proficiency and chemistry of their touring band are all factors that make The Driver Era a must-see act as they continue to tour North and South America.
