Montreal-based bass-only sludge band SEUM is set to mark the first anniversary of their second album, DOUBLE DOUBLE with a new EP titled Live at CJLO, featuring four tracks from DOUBLE DOUBLE recorded live and on air at Montreal-based radio station CJLO 1690AM.
The EP features the signature heavy sound of SEUM, captured live and raw. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Zack Bruce, the EP’s artwork is courtesy of Bartosz Zaskórski.
SEUM, known for infusing a ferocious punk energy into their New Orleans-inspired sludge, comprises three doom veterans: Gaspard on vocals (formerly of Lord Humungus), Piotr on bass (formerly of Mlah!), and Fred on drums (formerly of Uluun). With their intense live performances and a knack for nihilistic, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, SEUM has carved a unique niche in the heavy music scene.
Contrary to the norm, SEUM’s sound is defined by its absence of guitars, a deliberate choice that sets them apart.
To coincide with the EP release, SEUM will embark on a four-show tour across Ontario and Quebec in March, alongside Toronto’s sludge heavyweights Pale Mare, presented by Black Throne Productions.
With two albums under their belt, Winterized (June 2021) and DOUBLE DOUBLE (February 2023), along with multiple EPs and a string of memorable live performances across Canada, the US, and France, SEUM continues to defy expectations and push the boundaries of the genre.
