Montreal-based artist Sankya has released her latest single, “Fall Again,” marking her return to the music scene after a brief hiatus, during which the singer-songwriter, who is of Congolese descent, focused on personal growth and creative exploration. “Fall Again” is a reflective track born out of Sankya’s post-breakup journey, where she grapples with the complexities of holding on to a relationship that has long since run its course.
Sankya describes the track as “a song about refusing to detach myself from the person causing me torment because, well…pride.” The song is an honest portrayal of the emotional struggle that often accompanies the end of a relationship.
The single delves into the internal conflict of resisting emotional closure, something Sankya refers to as her “messy universe.” She candidly admits, “Fall Again is yet another song about me fighting my feelings and letting you in on it.”

Over the past three years, Sankya has experienced significant personal and artistic transformations. The break from releasing new music provided her with the space to confront heartbreak, overcome creative blockages, and navigate the inevitable drama that life throws her way. Through this period, Sankya honed her craft, using her experiences to create raw, unfiltered art that resonates deeply with her audience.
Sankya’s music is characterized by its cutting honesty, a trait she attributes to her lived experiences. “Like every song I write and decide to move forward with, ‘Fall Again’ is close to my heart. The choice of words, the melodies, and every instrument is reviewed so the song can allow my listeners to understand how I felt, but also exactly how I felt it.”
Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Kahyl Desrosier, also known as Fear Rari, which visually represents the struggle of breaking away from a toxic relationship. Sankya explains, “Knowing that the person you are with is not the right person to be with but fighting the obvious anyway is a consuming and addictive cycle. Yet, so common.”
Sankya’s previous work garnered significant attention, with her singles amassing over 1.3 million streams since she began sharing her music online in 2019. As she continues to evolve as an artist, “Fall Again” is a clear indication that Sankya is ready to re-establish herself as a significant voice in Montreal’s RnB scene.
