Montreal’s LARAW introduces herself with “Teach Me How To Love”

Singer-songwriter Laraw signs with Bravo and drops “Teach Me How To Love,” her first single for the label. Supported by a music video, this upbeat earworm is now available on all digital download and streaming platforms.

On “Teach Me How To Love,” Laraw’s heartfelt, ethereal voice is backed by electric guitar and bass accompaniment. As the track unfolds, the drums become more and more present, creating a lively beat that is reminiscent of 90s alternative rock. The song’s irresistibly catchy chorus reveals a strong pop sensitivity.

“Teach me how
Teach me how to love
Cause I don’t know how
Don’t know how to trust
Miss broken heart
I don’t I don’t feel alive
Teach me how
Teach me how to love
Cause I don’t know why
All the stupid boys with the stupid lies
Make me make me feel alive”

This introspective post-breakup song, serving as the debut single from an album scheduled for release in 2024, delves into the yearning for love while being afraid to let go of the house you built to protect yourself. “Maybe it was ultimately about loving myself—but I love blaming others for my problems,” admits the artist. The song’s video portrays a romantic relationship between Laraw and Mr. Blue, a ubiquitous character who represents her lover, muse, and self-hatred. “It’s the beginning of my quarter-life crisis, where I realize there is more to life than your love for others,” she explains. Composed by Lara Rawadi, “Teach Me How To Love” was co-written by the artist and by Derek Hoffman, who also produced and mixed the single. The mastering is from Elisa Pangsaeng.
