Montreal indie pop outfit Ivytide will unveil its album, “Portable Darkroom,” on April 5, 2024, courtesy of the Indica label.

The album delves deep into the labyrinth of memory, exploring its tangled web with a raw honesty that resonates long after the final chord fades.

Drawing inspiration from the notion that memory is an imperfect, ever-shifting construct, Ivytide plunges headfirst into the murky depths of the mind. For them, memory is akin to a living darkroom, where reality’s artifacts are developed and distorted, emerging as both vivid recollections and elusive fragments.

Crafted amidst the rustic serenity of Quebec’s chalets, the record’s sonic landscape is as diverse as the emotions it evokes, weaving together infectious earworms with introspective indie folk ballads. Ivytide’s evolution is palpable, their sound maturing to embrace vulnerability, instability, and loss, all underscored by hauntingly beautiful vocals that linger like echoes in the night.

According to the band, “portable darkroom” represents a bold step forward—a testament to their growth both musically and personally. From their humble beginnings in a recording studio to commanding stages in Montreal and Toronto, Ivytide has cultivated a devoted following drawn to their signature blend of indie chill vibes and introspective lyricism.

Following the success of their debut EP “Bloom” and subsequent releases “Pardon Our Distance” and “Softy,” Ivytide’s ascent shows no signs of slowing down.
