Montreal’s CHÜZO is set to drop their latest EP, M.T.M.D (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay), on November 15, 2024, pushing their brand of aggro-metal further into the spotlight.
With three hard-hitting tracks produced by Kevin Jardine (Slaves On Dope), the EP showcases the new CHÜZO lineup, now fronted by Brazilian vocalist Mischa M., alongside guitarist Cristian S. from Chile, drummer Carlos G. from Venezuela, and bassist Alex S. from Russia.
CHÜZO’s latest work channels a brutal blend of grindcore, Swedish death metal, and hardcore punk, a style that Cristian refers to as “Aggro Metal.” “The sound of the band evolved from, initially, grindcore, to hardcore, to now Aggro Metal. The evolution had to be this way because of the influence of certain early members that were pulling the sound of the band into a musical lane that was not the initial idea. Nonetheless, after the latest band member changes, this current lineup is focused on making the sound that we have developed on M.T.M.D. This is finally what CHÜZO was meant to sound like after many years and many ex-band members. This mark III version of the band is the final evolution in the sound of CHÜZO,” Cristian explains.

Lyrically, the EP dives into themes of vengeance, self-reflection, and resilience. According to the band, they channel “bad energy from bad experiences” to create something productive, “especially the traumatic ones.” This cathartic approach fuels the raw energy in M.T.M.D. Guitarist Cristian notes, “As we are all driven by revenge at some point in our lives, it is also important to not be only driven by vengeance and achieve that revenge. Something that the band believes is very relatable with anyone.”
With “Brand New Cell” as the lead single, CHÜZO offers fans a first look at their latest sound, a nod to Swedish death metal with intense riff work and visceral vocals. “This song was written in parts, first between Carlos (Drums) and myself on guitar. It was developed as an ‘ode’ to Swedish Death Metal,” says Cristian. “Once the song structure was complete, the collaboration between Mischa and I created the foundation for the lyrical content.”
The EP, intended for fans of Sepultura, At the Gates, and Napalm Death, will be available for pre-order and digital save prior to its November release.
