Canada’s premier jazz event, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (FIJM) has secured a four-year extension of its presenting partnership with TD Bank Group, ensuring stability for one of North America’s most prestigious music festivals through the decade’s latter half.
The announcement comes as organisers reveal the first wave of artists for the festival’s 45th edition, scheduled for June 25 to July 3, 2025. The lineup reflects the festival’s characteristic blend of jazz traditionalists and contemporary innovators, featuring both established names and emerging talents.
Among the headliners, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will open the festival at Maison symphonique on June 25. Rising star Samara Joy, whose meteoric ascent in jazz circles has drawn comparison to Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, is set to perform at the same venue three days later.
The programming demonstrates the festival’s broader musical scope, with appearances by experimental hip-hop producer Madlib at MTELUS and dream pop outfit Men I Trust, who will celebrate their tenth anniversary with a free outdoor performance on the TD Stage.
Notable jazz veterans featuring in the 2025 edition include saxophonist Branford Marsalis, performing a solo evening at Théâtre Maisonneuve, and alto saxophone legend Gary Bartz, who takes the intimate stage at Gesù. Singer-songwriter Madeleine Peyroux and Canadian jazz vocalist Holly Cole round out the initial announcement with performances at various venues across Place des Arts.
Abe Adham, Chair of TD Bank Group’s Quebec Division, spoke about the renewed partnership: “Music has the remarkable power to entertain, celebrate diversity and create shared peak experiences,” noting TD’s 15-year history with the festival.
Tickets for the indoor concerts go on sale November 22, with a subscriber pre-sale beginning November 21. The festival will continue its tradition of free outdoor programming, with additional artists to be announced in the coming months.
