On November 5th, Montreal welcomed American singer-songwriter LP on her tour, promoting their new album “Love Lines.”

The opening act for LP’s Place Bell show was Vérité, an indie pop artist based in New York City. Playing the keyboard and singing songs with a uniquely angelic voice, she took the crowd into moments of affinity. Everything about her performance dripped with intimacy, from her vocals to her outfit to her presence on stage.

The highlight of the night was, of course, the one and only LP, who appeared on a stage complete with palm trees, warm lighting, and a mini stage for the star of the show. Decked out in a sparkly black “classic LP” suit and cowboy hat, they started the show strong with the upbeat 2023 single, “Golden.” The crowd, consisting mostly of Gen X and Millennials, kept up with LP’s high energy throughout the entire set, even cheering with them as they took a shot on stage.

They continued the set with songs like “Burn It Down,” “The One That You Love,” and “Love Lines,” demonstrating their incredible vocal range and lyricism. LP was accompanied by the incredibly talented guitarist Andrew Berkeley Martin, who arrived ready to rock in a contrasting white rocker outfit, long wavy hair, and a red bandana hanging from his pocket. LP ended their set with “Special” and “Long Goodbye” before returning for an encore to officially end the night with the song “One Last Time,” an appropriate choice for the big finale!
