Lily Allen has announced her fifth studio album, West End Girl, due this Friday, October 24 via BMG.
The 14-track release is her first full-length since 2018’s No Shame. The material was primarily written with her musical director Blue May during a 10-day session in Los Angeles before being finished in London and New York, with Allen, Blue May, Seb Chew and Kito listed as executive producers. Spanish artist Nieves González created the cover art.
In a press statement, Allen said, “I’m nervous. The record is vulnerable in a way that my music perhaps hasn’t been before… I’ve tried to document my life in a new city and the events that led me to where I am in my life now,” describing the album as a mix of fact and fiction that examines “the complexities of relationships.”
West End Girl arrives seven years after No Shame, which included collaborations with Giggs and Burna Boy. Since that album, Allen has focused on stage work and broadcasting. She made her West End debut in Danny Robins’ 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2021, earning an Olivier nomination and winning a WhatsOnStage Award, and starred in the 2023 London revival of Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman. She also co-hosts the podcast Miss Me with Miquita Oliver.
