The final post in our “Countdown To Heavy” means that the biggest rock and metal festival in Montreal kicks off tomorrow.
Over the weekend you’ll see a huge variety of bands from the brutal Pig Destroyer to the AOR of Dokken to legendary names such as Iggy Pop and Marky Ramone.
Headlining the opening night will be Nu-metal pioneers KORN.
Having sold over 35 million records during their 22 year career, Korn are viewed as the first band to be labeled as nu metal. Bands such as Coal Chamber and Limp Bizkit were inspired by Korn’s debut album’s “churning rage, emphasising similar grooves and song structures” and “the sound’s hip–hop elements.” Their lyrics focus on pain and personal alienation rather than traditional heavy metal themes and they have been known to experiment and push the boundaries of their sound, recently collaborating with EDM superstar Skrillex on their album, The Path of Totality.
Don’t miss Korn when they take to the Molson stage at Heavy on Friday night at 9:15pm. They’ll be performing their self-titled 1994 debut in full.
