British indie rock band Doves have returned with their first new music in over 11 years.

Carousels is “is reminiscence of times we’d go to places like North Wales on holiday as kids. Places where you had your first experience of sound systems and music being played really loud.”

Doves is composed of twin brothers Jez Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andy Williams (drums, vocals), and Jimi Goodwin (bass, vocals, guitar). The band released four studio albums, two of which have reached Number One on the UK album charts.

Doves went on hiatus in 2010, with Goodwin releasing his first solo album Odludek in 2014, while the Williams brothers regrouped as Black Rivers.

On 3 December 2018, Doves announced they would be breaking their hiatus by performing for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall, in London on 29 March 2019. Further festivals, including some dates with Noel Gallagher were subsequently announced.

In an interview with Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie, on BBC Radio 6 Music on 2 February 2019, Andy and Jimi confirmed that they were hoping to write and record new material together during the course of 2019 and 2020.
