Debbie Sings shares new single ‘Hotpants’

Debbie Sings released Hotpants today, the final single from her upcoming EP Oh My, arriving February 27 via BIG OIL Recordings. The Copenhagen singer and producer recorded the track last summer, describing it as “an ode to hotpants” that came together quickly after working extensively on the EP’s sound.

Oh My was written, produced, and recorded almost entirely by Debbie Sings herself, moving between Copenhagen and Berlin. She worked from bedrooms, borrowed studios, buses, and coffee shops, using Logic, Nexus by reFX, distorted drums, and heavily processed vocals. The exception is Sucker Punch, co-produced with her friend The Bird. Debbie deliberately limited her tools to create a raw, immediate sound across the eight-track release.

The EP draws from early-2010s electroclash and artists like Peaches and Uffie, leaning into club-oriented electronic production. Debbie described Oh My as “electro-pop-punk music for the dance floor or the floor of your bedroom, made for getting lost, letting go, and carrying on.” The project channels what she called “internal and external chaos” into tracks built for movement and escape.

Debbie Sings is an alumna of Copenhagen’s Rhythmic Music Conservatory, which has produced artists including Clarissa Connelly, ML Buch, Smerz, and Astrid Sonne. Her previous work, Debbie’s Songs, introduced her as a genre-hopping songwriter, while Oh My tightens the focus toward electronic and punk influences with a uniform club sound.

The EP has received early coverage from Wonderland, NME, CLASH, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, and Electronic Sound. The eight tracks include Eh Oh, Sucker Punch, Sunny Skies, Make Your Body Move, Music Loves Me, Hotpants, Oh My, and Leave This City.
