Today’s Countdown To Heavy features the mighty Arch Enemy featuring Montreal’s own Alissa White-Gluz.
Rising like a phoenix from the ashes of the mighty Carcass, came a super-group of sorts under the moniker of Arch Enemy. Michael Amott surrounded himself with a platoon of talented Swedes at the beginning of the project and through the years, many great musicians have funneled through the group, leaving their own footprint on the band. Originally fronted by former Carnage vocalist, Johan Liiva, for the first four years until the microphone was handed over to a German who could just as easily been a super model – Angela Gossow. Although to the untrained ear, having never seen a photograph of the band, might never have guessed that the guttural belchings emitted from their speakers were that of a foxy women, Gossow’s work with Arch Enemy helped them garner a healthy female fan base… to go with the drooling male populous. In 2014, Gossow stepped away as the groups vocalist to pursue other avenues, leaving the door open for the entrance of Montreal’s own Alissa White-Gluz of The Agonist to step up to the plate.
Later that year, the band released their tenth studio album and first with White-Gluz; “War Eternal”. Arch Enemy perform of the opening day of the three day affair.
