Corrosion of Conformity Set for Fairmount Theatre Show

Fairmount Theatre will host American heavy metal veterans Corrosion of Conformity on May 6th, part of a sprawling North American tour that runs through mid-May. The Montreal date lands near the tail end of the run, with support from Atlanta noise rock outfit Whores and Maryland hard rockers Crobot.

The tour announcement arrives as COC prepares to release a new double album later this year via Nuclear Blast Records. While details on the record remain scarce, the band has been teasing new material since last fall, when they dropped a spontaneous cover of Free’s “Fire and Water” recorded during downtime at Riffisippi Studios. That track marks the first in what the band is calling their Studio Jam Sessions series, reworked takes on songs by artists who shaped their sound.

The spring tour kicks off with a pair of headlining shows in Atlanta and Greensboro in early April before COC joins Clutch for a stretch of dates running through early May. After the Montreal stop, the band continues east through New York, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh before looping back through the Midwest and South, wrapping May 16th in New Orleans. In a statement, the band said the recent Alice Cooper and Judas Priest tour “lit us on fire,” promising that a first single from the new album is coming soon.

Formed in 1982, Corrosion of Conformity has spent four decades carving out a distinct place in heavy metal, shifting from thrash origins to the blues-laced riffing that defines their recent work. The current lineup features Pepper Keenan on guitar and vocals, Woody Weatherman on guitar, Stanton Moore on drums, and Bobby Landgraf on bass. Their last full-length, No Cross No Crown, arrived in 2018.

Tickets for the Montreal show go on sale Friday, January 23rd at 10:00am.
