Brittany Kennell has released a new single, Country Club, out April 10 via Symphonic Distribution. The Montreal-based singer-songwriter frames the track around her own experience working in an upscale country club, focusing on class divides and workplace dynamics.
The song draws on a specific period in Kennell’s life, observing the gap between wealth and labour from close range. She describes it as a vulnerable piece, shaped by seeing privilege up close while trying to establish herself. The writing leans into those contrasts without dressing them up, pairing personal detail with broader social tension.
Produced by Ariel Posen, Country Club also marks a shift in sound. Kennell moves further into Americana, with a more stripped-back approach that keeps the focus on the vocal and lyric. That direction follows her 2024 album Pink Collar, which passed one million streams and expanded her reach across festival circuits in Canada.

Kennell’s background has always been split between Quebec and the U.S. She grew up in Beaconsfield before studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, then spent eight years in Nashville writing and performing. Her time there included an appearance on NBC’s The Voice, where she advanced to the knockout round under Blake Shelton, as well as collaborations with writers and artists across the country scene.
Back in Quebec, she has remained visible across both music and sports events, performing regularly at festivals and serving as a national anthem singer for the Montreal Canadiens, along with appearances at Formula 1 and CFL games. Her work has also been covered by outlets including Rolling Stone, CMT, and American Songwriter.
Recent changes in her personal life are shaping the next phase of her music. Since becoming a parent, Kennell has been writing new material that leans further into themes of resilience and day-to-day life, with Country Club pointing toward that direction.
She has a run of Quebec dates scheduled through the summer, including stops in Rouyn-Noranda, Saint-Félicien, and Mont-Tremblant, while continuing work on her next release.
