Two artists who build their music around the space between languages and the feeling of belonging to more than one world are bringing their Entre Dos Mundos tour to Montreal this weekend. maye and Ambar Lucid play Ausgang on Saturday, May 16 — and we have a pair of tickets to give away.
maye is Venezuelan-born, Miami-raised, and Los Angeles-based. Her songwriting sits close to the bone — bilingual, personal, built around indie pop and alternative soul. She has over 250 million career streams and a catalog that rewards close listening. Her song “Tú” is a decent place to start if you haven’t found her yet.
Ambar Lucid is from New Jersey, also based in LA. Vocalist, producer, multi-instrumentalist. Her records mix English and Spanish with psychedelia, bolero, and Latin balladry, centred on identity and self-discovery. The psych-leaning alt-pop framing is accurate, but there’s a quieter, more searching quality underneath.
Together on the Entre Dos Mundos tour, the pairing makes sense. Both artists work in the territory between cultures, and neither leans on spectacle to make the point. This is the kind of show that tends to feel more like a shared atmosphere than a performance — the bill is built for it.
