Half Moon Run and The Barr Brothers Head to Gatineau

Half Moon Run and The Barr Brothers have been added to the 39th Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival, with the two Montreal bands headlining consecutive nights at the outdoor event in Gatineau this September.

Half Moon Run plays Saturday, September 5th. The band formed in Montreal from members who arrived from British Columbia and Ontario, and has spent the better part of fifteen years building an international audience across seven albums and EPs. They’ve taken home two JUNO Awards for Adult Alternative Album of the Year, in 2020 and 2022, along with five Félix Awards at the ADISQ Gala, including Anglophone Show of the Year twice. Their live show leans into the psychedelic textures of their recorded work.

The Barr Brothers take the stage the night before, on Friday, September 4th. Brad and Andrew Barr founded the band in Montreal in 2006 after more than two decades of playing together, and built a sound around pedal steel, brass, and a folk-soul-indie hybrid that doesn’t sit neatly in any single lane. Their fourth album, Let It Hiss, arrives after an eight-year gap between records.

The rest of the September 4th bill includes Simple Plan and DJ Mike Demero. Smash Mouth plays Thursday, September 3rd, and Matt Lang opens the festival on Wednesday, September 2nd.

The five-day festival runs September 2nd to 6th, 2026, presented by Loto-Québec in collaboration with Desjardins. A five-day pass is currently priced at $74.99 at fmg2026.ca.
