On August 11, 2025, the iconic French hip-hop group IAM returned to Montreal for a sold-out performance at L’Olympia, reigniting their bond with Canadian fans in a show that was both nostalgic and electrifying.
As part of their Planète Mars Tour 2025, IAM delivered a 1-hour and 45-minute set that was meticulously crafted and emotionally charged. The venue pulsed with energy—30 degrees outside, 40 inside—as the crowd welcomed the Marseille legends with open arms and roaring voices.

IAM’s relationship with Montreal runs deep. The group first played here in the mid-1990s, at a time when French hip-hop was still carving out its identity on the global stage. Montreal’s strong Francophone culture made it an early and receptive audience for IAM’s socially conscious lyrics and intricate storytelling. Over the years, their shows in the city have become something of a tradition, drawing generations of fans who connect with both the music and the message.
The setlist was a journey through IAM’s rich discography, blending classics like “L’école du micro d’argent,” “Samouraï,” and “Demain, c’est loin” with solo gems from Akhenaton and Shurik’n.

Beyond the music, IAM’s message resonated deeply. Akhenaton closed the show with a heartfelt declaration: “Kindness, love, health, peace.” These words echoed through the venue, capturing the spirit of a group that has always blended activism with artistry.
IAM reminded everyone why they remain one of the most influential voices in French hip-hop and why their legacy continues to inspire across borders and generations.
It left us stunned and speechless.
