Montreal’s Laurence-Anne is back with a new single, Melancolía, a dreamy track sung entirely in Spanish, and it drops just as she prepares for a week-long Mexican tour kicking off on November 1. The tour, running until November 7, includes a high-profile performance at Mexico City’s Hipnosis festival, a well-known hub for psychedelic rock and pop fans. This marks Laurence-Anne’s second time performing in Mexico this year, underscoring her growing connection with audiences there.
Melancolía follows on the heels of Oniromancie, her third album released just over a year ago. The track takes a reflective turn, exploring themes of loss and nostalgia, as the artist herself describes: “There’s a beautiful glow that comes with melancholy… Things change, disappear, and are reborn, like light every day.” Inspired by the cycles of dawn and dusk, the song captures the transient nature of things that fade but leave lasting impressions.
Laurence-Anne collaborated with François Zaïdan on this single, leaning into her signature style of using unconventional sounds. The song features the recorder and steel drum, adding a textured, almost hypnotic atmosphere to the arrangement. Laurence-Anne’s interest in non-traditional instruments has become a recognizable part of her sound, reflecting her approach to creating aural landscapes that are as layered as they are immersive.

After wrapping up her Mexican tour, Laurence-Anne will return to Montreal, where she’ll take the stage at Club Soda on November 23, opening for local singer-songwriter Peter Peter. The performance marks a rare opportunity for fans to see her in a more intimate setting, as her reputation continues to grow both at home and abroad.
The acclaim for Oniromancie has not gone unnoticed; it recently earned nominations for Alternative Album of the Year at the ADISQ Gala and Indie Rock Album of the Year at the GAMIQ Awards. The record has also drawn attention from notable international outlets, including BBC Radio 6, BrooklynVegan, and Billboard Canada, further cementing her place on the indie music radar.
With Melancolía, Laurence-Anne continues to explore the themes that resonate in her music—change, transformation, and the beauty found in fleeting moments—while expanding her reach in new territories.
The single is now available across streaming platforms.
