Montreal’s punk scene is set to see a significant return as Dutch Nuggets announce their first release in over a decade. The band, known for their fast-paced songs and dynamic live performances, has officially joined the roster of Canadian punk label Thousand Islands Records. Their upcoming single, Dead Tired, slated for release on September 4th, marks the band’s first new material since their 2013 LP, NERVOUS WRECK.

Formed in 2008, Dutch Nuggets made a name for themselves in Quebec’s skate punk scene with their debut album NERVOUS WRECK, which later caught the attention of labels abroad, leading to reissues in Japan and the United States. The four-piece band—comprising Francis Desaulniers (guitar/vocals), François Lelièvre (drums), Gabriel Malette (vocals/guitar), and Pierre-Luc Wagner (bass/vocals)—became known for their tight three-part vocal harmonies and high-energy shows, sharing stages with punk veterans like Good Riddance and Bigwig.

The band’s new material is set to take shape as a concept album titled Fishbowl’d!, featuring 12 tracks. Though specific details about the album remain under wraps, the upcoming single hints at a continued evolution in their sound. The release of Dead Tired will undoubtedly be a moment of anticipation not just for their established fan base but also for newcomers to their music.

While the band has been relatively quiet over the last few years, they’ve been actively working on this new project. Their collaboration with Thousand Islands Records signals a fresh chapter in their journey, one that’s poised to reintroduce them to the punk rock landscape.
