After a decade-long hiatus, Canadian folk-roots duo Fire & Smoke are gearing up for their highly anticipated return with the upcoming release of their new EP, “Constance,” scheduled to hit the airwaves on March 22nd of this year. The duo, consisting of Claire Morrison and Daniel Péloquin-Hopfner, last graced the music scene with their album “Maiden Voyage” back in 2011, and fans have been eagerly awaiting their comeback.
True to their roots in Western Canada’s francophone community, “Constance” features a blend of three songs in French and three in English, showcasing the duo’s cultural diversity and musical versatility. The title of the EP speaks to the enduring partnership between Morrison and Péloquin-Hopfner and the excitement of reigniting their creative journey together.
Fire & Smoke made a triumphant return to the stage with a sold-out show in Winnipeg as part of the Coup de cœur francophone series in 2021, and since then, they have graced the lineup of prominent festivals such as the Winnipeg Folk Festival and the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival. Additionally, they had the honour of opening for Louis-Jean Cormier at the Festival du Voyageur and showcased their talents at events like Folk Music Ontario and Coup de Coeur Francophone in Montreal.

Looking ahead, Fire & Smoke is poised to captivate audiences nationwide, with several festival dates already confirmed for 2024, including an appearance at the Festival du Voyageur on February 24th.
“Constance” promises to deliver the signature chemistry and storytelling prowess that fans have come to love from Fire & Smoke. From the intimate “Perfection éphémère” to the environmentally-conscious “Lady Frost” and the expansive sounds of “Rolling Green Mountain,” the EP offers a rich and textured musical journey for listeners.
For the production of “Constance,” Fire & Smoke enlisted the talents of notable figures from the French-Canadian and Montreal music scenes, including Agathe Dupéré, Jérémie Essiambre, and Mario Lepage, among others.
With “Constance,” Fire & Smoke is ready to make their mark once again on the Canadian music landscape, promising a captivating listening experience for fans, old and new alike.
