Have you heard of Måneskin? If not you have hiding under a rock and missing out on one of the most talked about rock bands going right now.
Måneskin is a quartet out of Rome, Italy who rose to fame with their majestic performance at Eurovision in 2021 taking away the first prize and leapfrogging them into worldwide sensations with the song Zitti e buoni. Since then they have been touring the world with their Loud Kids tour, and luckily Montreal was one of the stops and Thursday night we found out what they were all about.
Since this was dubbed An Evening with Måneskin there were no openers, just a sold-out crowd waiting for them to hit the stage. They took the stage at 9pm coming out to a modest set and dressed to kill as they were all wearing grey striped suits ready to party all night!

They promptly started with Kool Kids and this couldn’t have been a better description of this young band. They ooze cool, this is a rock band that knows no boundaries and are ready to take over the world by seducing all their fans with their music, their looks and their joy de vivre.
One song in, I was in love with their energy and this got better as the show went on. They wasted no time playing their Eurovision hit Zitti e buoni next, and let me tell you, the sold-out crowd was eating it up; all I could feel while taking photos of this band was how grateful I was to be in this moment. This will be defined as the “I was there when moment” of their career as the sky’s the limit for this band.

I was blown away by the live version of Supermodel, Beggin and I Wanna Be Your Slave. Musically they were as solid as a rock band can be, they sounded incredible. This was a very intimate show, as the band seemed to interact with each and everyone one of us. Their lead singer Damiano David has everyone gushing with the looks he gave us, his voice was mesmerizing; he’s a true rock star! His bassist, the wonderful Victoria De Angelis was slapping the bass like there was no tomorrow, she may be of small stature, but she really is bigger than life. She had the crowd in her pocket.

What can be said of guitarist Thomas Raggi who rocked solos all night and was just on fire? Finally, the drummer Ethan Torchio was the master of timing and keeping us on our toes. He was so good! Each member took turns going into the crowd, either surfing or playing in the middle of the crowd. Each moment was incredible. One special moment was their cover of My Generation from The Who. It was totally different and very special. Finally, I really enjoyed their song Mamamia, which is just epic stuff.

The band would play 17 songs including ending the night with playing I Want to Be Your Slave, Damiano isn’t kidding when he said it was his favourite song. So good, I tried to describe how good it was, but it will never be as good as experiencing this band live, they are a must-see, don’t sleep on this band!
This was officially the best show I have ever seen at MTelus, and a show I will cherish for the rest of my life. Can’t wait to see them again; I have a feeling it will be in a way bigger venue.
