It hasn’t been an easy couple of months, it has either been either too hectic, too stressful and, throw in in a couple of health scares in the family, and it makes it easily one of the hardest seasons of the past couple of years.

Everything turned out fine, and in the midst of it, I got to witness Ziggy Marley, an experience that I could easily describe as attending a Rastafari church service, full of love, joy and the feeling that everything will be alright.

The message of his songs, combined with the legendary classics from his father, made the night very special and transported me to a calmer place, one filled with positiveness and lack of worry for what tomorrow may bring.

It’s incredible to think about it, but Ziggy has been playing for more than 30 years. This time he was presenting songs from his newest album “Rebellion Rises,” his seventh solo album, where he presents lyrics meant to encourage and give a voice to humanity in the midst of increasing negativity and darkness.

Song after song he was presenting an alternative perspective to what is surrounding us, to the pervasive negativity that seems to overwhelm us with all the day to day stuff plus all the political nonsense going around. Amazingly, he is able to deliver this message with inspiring optimism.

As a prophet, following on his father’s footsteps, Ziggy was able to preach his message of love and get us all moving and grooving to his music. Maybe the weed and beer helped lubricate the crowd, but the dancing and joy would have come sooner or later without them.

Whether you like reggae, love to dance, just want to feel like there is hope in the world then attending a Ziggy Marley concert is just what you need.
