When Viking metal mythology collides with Adult Swim’s darkest comedy, the result sounds like chaos. But for Amon Amarth and Dethklok, two acts that have built careers on theatrical excess, it’s a natural pairing. The Swedish melodic death metal veterans and the animated metal phenomenon are teaming up for The Amonklok Conquest, a co-headlining North American tour hitting arenas throughout spring 2026.
The tour, produced by Live Nation, launches April 15 in Phoenix and winds through 21 cities before wrapping May 21 in Las Vegas. Montreal fans can catch the spectacle May 2 at the Bell Centre, sandwiched between a Toronto show at Great Canadian Casino Resort and a stop in Maryland. Fantastical newcomers Castle Rat will support throughout, adding another layer of theatricality to what promises to be an uncommonly over-the-top metal experience. Artist presales begin today at noon Eastern, with general tickets available December 12.

The pairing makes sense beyond the obvious theatrical overlap. Dethklok is marking its 20th anniversary in 2026, two decades since Metalocalypse first aired on Adult Swim and transformed Brendon Small’s satirical creation into a legitimate touring force. The current lineup features Small on guitar and vocals, legendary extreme metal drummer Gene Hoglan (Death, Testament), bassist Pete Griffin, and guitarist Nili Brosh. “We’re going to entertain you as hard as we possibly can with the power of heavy metal in many kinds of ways,” Small promises, noting the show will incorporate fast-paced animation alongside the band’s crushing performances.

Amon Amarth, meanwhile, comes to the tour fresh off supporting Slayer in the UK and Pantera across America, bringing what they’re billing as an all-new theatrical stage production. The quintet recently released “We Rule The Waves,” their first new music in years, and have confirmed a full album arriving later in 2026. It’s a busy year for the band: they’ve also announced The Allfather Awakens, an autumn UK and European run with Orbit Culture and Soilwork.
For Montreal, the Bell Centre date offers a rare chance to see Amon Amarth in an arena setting. The band last played the city at smaller venues, and the upgrade speaks to metal’s current commercial health as much as their own enduring appeal. That the tour lands during festival season, with both Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville appearances woven into the routing, suggests promoters see serious demand for melodic death metal spectacle in 2026.
