Turnstile ended the North American leg of their Never Enough Tour on Saturday, 24 October, with a free benefit concert at the Washington Monument. Consequence puts the crowd at an estimated 60,000. The show was organized with the charity Human Concern International to raise money for humanitarian relief in Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon. Organizers had aimed for $100,000; by Sunday the fundraiser had passed $220,000.
The Baltimore hardcore band announced the show on 8 October, a day after teasing it on social media. Admission was free, with RSVPs taken online and donations collected through the charity. “With your support, we aim to provide food, water, medical care and shelter to families in need in all three regions,” Human Concern International global director Hassan Wadi said when the show was announced.
Frontman Brendan Yates grew up in Burtonsville, Maryland, outside DC. “This is a scene that raised us,” he told The Washington Post before the show. The Post reported that Yates had spent the previous day icing an injured ankle after weeks on the road. He still led a 19-song, 75-minute set that opened with BIRDS and closed with T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION). Midway through, he thanked the crowd for supporting the benefit and led a chant of “Free Palestine! Free Sudan! Free Lebanon!”
Free hometown shows are a habit for the band. They played the Clifton Park bandshell in Baltimore when Glow On came out in 2021, and marked the release of Never Enough with a show at Wyman Park Dell that Stereogum estimated drew around 10,000 people. Both raised money for unhoused people in the city. The Washington site has its own punk history: Fugazi played free benefit shows at the Sylvan Theater on the National Mall in 1993 and 1995.
Saturday capped a busy year. Turnstile won their first two Grammys in 2026, including Best Rock Album for Never Enough, and made their Saturday Night Live debut earlier this month. A few stops later, they brought Slayyyter on stage at their Lawrence show.
The band plays Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw in Los Angeles the weekend of 14 November. In 2027 they headline Primavera Sound in Barcelona in early June, plus Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany.
