Steel Panther rolled into Montreal’s MTELUS with their usual flair for chaos, crude jokes, and over-the-top glam metal energy, and while the crowd wasn’t exactly packing the house, the band delivered the kind of raunchy spectacle fans have come to expect. This time, that included hiring strippers to dance onstage while they shredded through their set, adding yet another layer to the band’s unapologetically outrageous live show.

The night kicked off earlier than expected with Kurt Deimer, though unfortunately, we missed most of his set due to being told doors were at 7:30. By the time we arrived, he was already five songs in — a frustrating start, but not uncommon for multi-band tours where set times aren’t always clearly communicated.

Next up was Buckcherry, whose performance was noticeably impacted by frontman Josh Todd’s strained vocals. While the band powered through their hits, there was no ignoring the fact that Todd seemed to be fighting to get through each song. It put a damper on what could’ve been a high-energy opener for Steel Panther.

When the headliners finally took the stage, they turned things around fast. Despite the sparse attendance, Steel Panther played like it was a sold-out arena, cranking out sleazy riffs, encouraging sing-alongs, and hurling unfiltered jokes between songs. Their brand of humour isn’t for everyone — juvenile, crass, and relentlessly self-aware — but that’s exactly what fans show up for. The crowd might’ve been thinner than usual, but the energy was still strong, and the band fed off it like pros.
In the end, it was a typical Steel Panther experience: loud, lewd, and a hell of a lot of fun, even with a few bumps along the way.
