Tonight it’s extremely cold outside in Montréal but I’m so excited to see Slaves and the other bands tonight at the intimate Cabaret Underworld, a relatively small room where we will be able to be nice and close to the musicians.
Unfortunately Polyphia had trouble entering Canada so weren’t performing so the first band up were The Alibi, an alternative rock band from Montréal composed of 2 guys and 3 girls, opening the night in front of approximately thirty people. It was a good set with the haunting voice of Nicole the singer.
At 7.40 pm, new band Favorite Weapon, featuring ex-Woe, Is Me vocalist Hance Alligood, own the stage and start their set with their catchy single Hollows before a room that is still filling up.
Next up Utah band, Get Scared, take to the stage. Get Scared was full of energy and kept me, and I’m sure the rest of the crowd, very entertained and hyped up for what was to come later on that night.
Finally we have the headliner, Slaves, in front of an enthusiastic crowd. These guys put on a great show to end the night correctly with their triangle light show and catchy music. Everyone sings the lyrics and former Emarosa frontman Jonny Craig gave a great show, his voice sounding perfect and so emotional. The band is so close to their fans, they played a great setlist with one acoustic song featuring just Jonny and his guitarist. Definitely catch them in your city; they don’t disappoint.
