The Montreal underground scene proved relentless, hosting a vibrant Sunday night show at Brasserie Beaubien. Kicking off the event, Laval locals Truth Be Cold delivered classic hardcore vibes, featuring danceable breakdowns and an infectious energy courtesy of charismatic vocalist Laurent. Keep an eye on this up-and-coming band if you’re a hardcore enthusiast.

Following suit, Montreal’s DIY hardcore outfit No Hope For Mankind brought the heat with their legendary “Gun à Clou,” delivering aggressive downbeats and cutting bass fills. Their hardcore spirit reached new heights as they even broke a bass drum pedal on stage, a testament to their dedication.

Taking the stage next, the local moshcore darlings C.I.D.B. upheld their reputation as party instigators. With a fanbase on the rise and a tangible on-and-off stage camaraderie, the band not only captivated the audience but also had them singing along to the infectious anthem “Bedbugs.” seizing the moment, C.I.D.B. treated their fans to new tracks, including the high-octane “Play the Game” and a heartfelt tribute to Steve Irwin. Bursting with fun and energy, catching C.I.D.B. live is a guarantee of an unforgettable experience, especially if you’re a punk aficionado.

Following that electrifying set, the revellers truly took centre stage. Ottawa’s Hyena descended upon the Montreal scene, tearing it up for the first time, and mark my words, it won’t be their last! With a frontman exuding raw energy and charisma, their fast-paced hardcore sound not only made the crowd lose their minds but also sparked wild circle pits, daring stage dives, and even a crushing wall of death. The audience, hungry for more, demanded an encore, and the band graciously obliged, treating fans to a replay of their newest single. If you’re a fan of modern metal or hardcore, Hyenas are a must-see on your musical radar!

The Winnipeg-based Shit Happens faced a setback with a shortened set due to a family emergency. However, they compensated by tearing up the stage with classics like “White Girl Wasted” and “Not Cool to be Homeless,” eliciting a wild response from the crowd. A special appearance from Jay of C.I.D.B added an extra layer of excitement.
In conclusion, the night was a resounding success—a show benefiting Montreal’s youth for a brighter Christmas and providing a temporary escape from life’s struggles for millennials and youngsters alike. Kudos to the excellent organization behind this memorable event.
