Sanguine Glacialis + Aversed + LINX @ Piranha Bar

The Piranha Bar hosted underground bands, mainly from Montreal. It was an intimate show that almost felt like a reunion of friends. We had LINX, Aversed, and Sanguine Glacialis.

LINX opened the concert, and they were my favourite, with their dark look and intense, brooding songs. The band began with an intro, and the bassist played with a thumb bass. The lead singer was super energetic and gave it her all. When she started the second song, she picked up her bass and played.

She alternated between clean vocals and screams, and it was absolutely incredible. She also waved a Palestinian flag during one of their songs.

If you don’t know them, go check out their music on Spotify; it’s worth listening to. Their album will be released in 2025, and I can’t wait to hear the whole thing.

Aversed was the second band. I feel their influences are somewhat similar to Jinjer or even The Agonist. The bassist played an 8-string bass, and the sound was really impressive, almost mind-blowing. It had a Djent vibe to it.

The third song was one they released the week before. We all paid close attention, and it was excellent. The drums had a deathcore sound, and it blended really well with the rest of the band.

Sanguine Glacialis was the final band. They mix melodic and symphonic elements. Honestly, I had a hard time defining the genre of this band, but they were definitely appreciated by their fans and friends who were present.

It was interesting to watch, especially with their flag on the side of the stage in a gothic style. I also thought it was great that the lead singer played the piano. She has a beautiful opera voice, holds her notes well, and it was truly magnificent.

Although it’s not my main genre, I still appreciated the musical diversity. No song sounded the same. My favourite was Missa Di Angelis.

There was a small technical issue during their set, but nothing major, and it was resolved very quickly. There was even a drum solo, which was cool.

They also had a special guest feature during their song Monster. It was cool to hear two different vocal styles, especially since usually it’s just the lead singer performing.

To conclude: LINX was incredible, and I would definitely see them again if they play another show.

Aversed: a great discovery.

Sanguine Glacialis: interesting to hear.
