Samurai + Stregoneria + Grimhold @ Petit Campus

It breaks my heart to see a venue with only a handful of people attending a thrash metal lineup at Petit Campus. That being said, it did not slow down any of these speed demons to give those who showed a night to remember!

It begins with Grimhold living up to their name by taking a stranglehold of the stage with their tasty riffs and grim vocals. As the crowd drew closer, they did not give out, leaving us in “aw yeah” performing Sepultura’s Arise, which was loud enough to hear on the 2nd floor!

The following act was thrash metal sorcerers Stregoneria. Lead singer and vocalist Roberto Castello showcased great skill playing originals, a tasty solo and a few covers such as Megadeth’s Hangar 18, where speed is no issue for him. Bassist Alejandro Rodriguez Villareal felt self-conscious about a minor sound issue on his end and decided to take a seat and treat us to an epic solo humbling us all. Near the end of their set, Bobby calls up talented lead singer of TamporA and Doom ‘An Blue, Jesse James Dimitri, to the stage for a sick finish. Their performance of Metallica’s No Remorse brought the house down!

Finally, first-time headliners Samurai take to the stage with no prisoners. Setting the tone with their original track, Call of the Beast, guitarists Oscar and Lucas shred so much steel! 46-year-old Aryel drummer showing us the measure of speed is the real number that counts as he beats the shit out of his drums. Meanwhile, Mape slaps her bass with the grimaces of a true speed metal maniac with no intent on slowing down. Their set got increasingly faster, and when it was over, it left us all wanting more!
