Quebec Indie Acts Miles Clayton and Coutchou Set for Le Ministère Show

Quebec’s evolving indie landscape will converge at Montreal’s Le Ministère on March 20th as brother duo Miles Clayton and solo artist Coutchou share the bill in what shapes up as a showcase of the province’s emerging talent.

Miles Clayton—comprised of siblings Sheldon Miles and Clayton Grenier—has quietly built a following through their distinctive blend of indie-folk and alternative pop. The English-speaking Quebec City natives first garnered attention with their 2016 EP “Dream Out Loud,” followed by “Love Forgets” in 2017. Their trajectory includes the 2018 single “Heavy Air” and a regional tour before the pandemic prompted a stylistic pivot.

The duo’s self-titled album, released in September 2024 after signing with MoonSun Musik the previous year, marks their first full-length offering and represents their evolution from folk roots toward more contemporary alternative sounds while maintaining the thoughtful lyricism that has defined their work.

Sharing the evening’s programme is Coutchou, the current musical incarnation of Montreal-based artist Alexis Leroy-Pleshoyano. Previously performing under the moniker Mada Mada, Leroy-Pleshoyano has established himself both as a performer and behind-the-scenes presence in Canadian music.

His production credits include work with nationally recognized artists Tyler Shaw and Claudia Bouvette, among others. As Coutchou, he handles all aspects of his recordings—from production to mixing—crafting a sound that draws from lo-fi aesthetics, indie rock structures, and nostalgic sonic textures.

The pairing presents an intriguing contrast: Miles Clayton’s fraternal harmonies and narrative songcraft alongside Coutchou’s producer-driven approach to indie composition.

Le Ministère, which has established itself as a key venue for independent artists in Montreal’s Plateau neighbourhood, continues its tradition of showcasing Quebec talent with this double bill.

The show begins at 8 p.m., with tickets available HERE
