Montreal’s rock duo Mercury Messiah has released a new single, “Stay,” which will be featured on their upcoming EP “Blast Off.” The band, consisting of Emmanuel (Mano) Diles and Alex Brunel, is known for their rock music compositions.

The single “Stay” explores a challenging period in Mano’s life, using the metaphor of a man’s final dance with a woman to depict life’s complexities. This release shows a shift in the band’s musical style, moving away from their established hard rock sound to a more subdued tone. However, Mano confirms that their core identity as a hard rock band remains.

The duo recorded, composed, mixed, and produced “Stay” and the upcoming EP in their home studios, taking a more independent approach to their music production. The “Blast Off” EP, expected to be released in early 2024, primarily features songs written by Mano between the ages of 14 and 17. These songs were initially set aside in favour of tracks from their first EP, “Starbound,” released in 2022.

Originally planned as a full-length album, the band’s work was later divided into two separate EPs. This division allowed them to refine their sound and further their creative process. Mercury Messiah’s music incorporates a variety of genres, influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Rush, and The Beatles. Their style spans jazz, blues, reggae, psychedelic rock, flamenco, progressive rock, metal, pop rock, hard rock, and more.

The upcoming release of “Blast Off” adds to Mercury Messiah’s diverse discography as the band continues to explore different musical genres and styles.
