Montreal musician Jesse Mac Cormack has unveiled a brand new single, ‘After The Glow’. Radiating warmth and soul, Mac Cormack’s music exposes tension and resolution’s shared core, undressing the complexities of conflict. Guided by increasingly complex arrangements, rhythmic progressions within both the acoustic and electric realm, Mac Cormack has achieved a sound that is intimate and raw, both smooth and coarse.
An accompanying video for the song was directed by Frédérique Bérubé (Suuns, Technical Kidman) who explains: “Aiming to film this in one take, Jesse had to reimagine the song at slower and faster tempos. The footage was projected on a wall and filmed again at different angles. It moves us through a corrupt reality; temporal alteration and loss of light resulting”.
Jesse Mac Cormack is Montreal born and raised. ‘After The Glow’ combines the softness of Mac Cormack’s first EP, ‘Music For The Soul’, with the pronounced rock of his follow-up EP, ‘CRUSH’ (both 2015 on Secret City Records), infusing it with his growing expertise as a sound technician and musician. Since he first began recording and producing his own music with nothing but a guitar and an amp, Mac Cormack is now working with tape machines, pedals, synths; a combination of quality sound gear and vintage instruments and equipment.
‘After The Glow’ is out now on Secret City Records
Jesse plays Bar Le Cha Cha on Thursday (Feb 18) and L’Astral (Montréal en Lumière) on Friday (Feb 19).
