Montreal’s Chikoruss, a 20-year-old artist, is carving a distinct niche. His new release, “In 2 Deep,” marks his first single under 300 Entertainment, making him the first French Canadian artist on their roster. This new track, out today, follows his initial success with “Body Language,” which gained traction on TikTok last summer.
Chikoruss brings a modern twist to the classic R&B vibes of the early 2000s. His style melds a traditional R&B essence with contemporary production elements, giving his music a unique flavour. This approach is evident in “In 2 Deep,” which combines upbeat rhythms with smooth guitar lines and Chikoruss’s harmonious vocals.
The young artist’s journey to this point has been notable. His track “Body Language” became a viral sensation, laying the groundwork for his burgeoning career. The song’s success on TikTok led to significant streaming numbers across various platforms. Following this, Chikoruss had the opportunity to open for Bryson Tiller in Toronto last summer, a move that further elevated his profile in the R&B scene.
Chikoruss credits his time in Los Angeles and collaboration with engineers like Kai for enhancing his creative process. He emphasizes the importance of working with individuals who understand and complement his musical style, a factor he believes contributes significantly to the quality of his output.
Beyond “In 2 Deep,” Chikoruss is expected to release a series of singles this spring.
