Elephant Stone, the Montreal psych-rock group led by Rishi Dhir, released “Fascists Killed Yer Rock ‘N’ Roll” on June 17 — the second single from their forthcoming album ASHA, due August 28.
The song draws from the energy of late-1970s British punk, channeling the raw, politically direct spirit of records like the Sex Pistols’ “God Save The Queen” and the Clash’s “London’s Burning.” Dhir has been clear about the intent: “I don’t claim to have the answers — this song is about giving the threat a name. It’s a reminder that we’ve seen this script before, and we’ve overcome it before.”
The accompanying video repurposes footage from a 1960s bicycle safety film featuring masked children — a choice that underlines the song’s themes of conformity, control, and the cyclical nature of history. The track premiered at Magnet Magazine alongside a feature.

ASHA is named after Dhir’s late mother. The album title carries personal weight that sits alongside the political directness of a song like “Fascists Killed Yer Rock ‘N’ Roll” — the two don’t contradict each other so much as exist in the same space.
Elephant Stone have been a consistent presence in Montreal’s rock scene for over a decade, building a catalogue that incorporates psych, shoegaze, and Indian raga influences. They’ve released through independent channels and toured internationally while remaining rooted in the city.
“Fascists Killed Yer Rock ‘N’ Roll” is out now on all platforms. ASHA arrives August 28.
