Dylan De Braga has released Hold the Door, a folk ballad written in the immediate aftermath of a breakup that left him unable to play guitar for two months. The 23-year-old Montreal songwriter recorded the track in Manhattan with Grammy-winning producer Chris Sclafani, who previously engineered and produced for Ed Sheeran.
The song came together quickly once De Braga finally sat down with his instrument again. “Within minutes, the chords and words surfaced exactly as they needed to, as if they had been waiting for me to be ready,” he said. “It felt like the first breath after being underwater for too long.”

De Braga taught himself piano and singing with no musical background in his family. Hold the Door marks his first release after years of self-directed practice and development. The production reflects the energy of the New York sessions, balancing vulnerability with a more expansive sound than a typical solo folk recording.
“Without Hold The Door, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I wouldn’t be the person I’ve grown into,” De Braga said. “It didn’t just come from pain, it pulled me out of it.”
He’s currently working on a debut EP. The single is available now.
