After a lengthy hiatus, Montreal skate punk outfit Dutch Nuggets has emerged with their sophomore full-length album, “Fishbowl’d!,” released today via Thousand Islands Records and Bearded Punk Records.
The quartet—comprised of Francis Desaulniers, François Lelièvre, Gabriel Malette, and Pierre-Luc Wagner—collaborated with producer Chris Fogal (known for work with Cigar, Pears, and Counterpunch) to refine their characteristic punk/hardcore sound while exploring new sonic territories.
This 12-track concept album marks the band’s first substantial release since their 2013 debut “Nervous Wreck,” which garnered attention within punk circles and led to reissues through Japanese and American labels.
The new record arrives as a 180g gatefold edition with environmentally conscious packaging, with the band pledging $2 from each sale to Carbone Boréal, a reforestation-based carbon offset initiative.
Alongside the new release, Dutch Nuggets’ debut album “Nervous Wreck” receives its first vinyl pressing—remastered and featuring previously unreleased material.
Active in the Montreal scene since 2008, Dutch Nuggets has built a reputation for energetic performances characterized by their distinctive three-part vocal harmonies. Their presence in Quebec’s punk community has allowed them to share stages with genre staples including Good Riddance, Belvedere, and 88 Fingers Louie.
The tracklist for “Fishbowl’d!” includes “Ignorance Is Bliss,” “Dead-Tired,” “Plastic Lives,” and “Same Old Dark Ages,” showcasing the band’s evolution while maintaining their punk foundations.
For those who favour digital formats, the album is available across streaming platforms, while physical copies can be purchased through the record labels’ respective websites, with European distribution handled through Bearded Punk Records.
