The MARATHON Festival, a collaboration between M for Montreal and SiriusXM, is set to return for its fourth edition from November 20 to 23. With more than 90 artists performing at iconic Montreal venues like Foufounes Électriques, Club Soda, Théâtre Fairmount, and MTELUS, the event promises a deep dive into both local and international music scenes.
A distinctive feature this year is the emphasis on gender diversity, with nearly 70% of the acts showcasing female musicians in prominent roles. This reflects a broader industry trend towards inclusivity and representation, both on stage and in the music business at large.
The festival has built a reputation for blending established acts with up-and-coming talent. In July, organizers teased the lineup with a sneak peek, announcing a mix of local favourites like P’tit Belliveau, KROY, Claudia Bouvette, and Karkwa, alongside emerging talents such as indie-pop artist Chiara Savasta and experimental hip-hop act Kaya Hoax. International artists will also make a splash, including first-time Quebec performers like Belgium’s Badi and Milk TV, and Marta Knight from Spain.

As the festival draws near, M for Montreal has unveiled its full roster, spotlighting a mix of local names like Fleece, known for their queer-pop vibe, and Soleil Launière’s folk-rock, as well as international acts. On the global front, festival-goers can look forward to performances by Mexico’s Dromedarios Mágicos, France’s Cléa Vincent, and Wales-based artists Ogun and MACY.
Notably, the festival will also feature several artists launching new projects or showcasing recent work. Warren Spicer, known as the frontman of Plants and Animals, will bring his solo project Unessential Oils to the stage, while Jane Penny of TOPS is set to perform on opening night at Foufounes Électriques. Club Soda will host Claudia Bouvette’s official album launch on November 22, with Naomi joining her to present new releases.
Individual tickets are available, though the $150 festival pass grants access to 34 shows across the four days, from afternoon to late night. It’s a chance for fans to experience a wide range of music, from folk and indie to rock and experimental hip-hop, all while discovering fresh voices and seasoned artists alike in the heart of Montreal.
