The Montreal trio drops their third full-length album, Hail Mary, next Friday, September 25. Leading the charge is the title track, out now as a single with a music video that hits just as loud as the song.

A Middle Finger With a Melody
“Hail Mary” is Les Shirley at their most unfiltered. The song is a loud, unapologetic response to patriarchy, power and anyone who expects women to stay quiet or “know their place.” Biting, provocative and fun as hell, it sets the tone for an album that has plenty to say and zero interest in softening the delivery.
Across 12 tracks, Hail Mary moves through patriarchy, queer identity, toxic relationships, economic pressure, fear, anger and lust. As women and members of the LGBTQ+ community, Raphaëlle Chouinard, Lisandre Bourdages and Sarah Dion aren’t separating who they are from what they write about. There’s feminist rage in these songs, but also humour, desire and release.
Built by Years on the Road
Les Shirley formed in Montreal in 2018 and have spent the years since building a live reputation that speaks for itself. The band has shared stages with NOFX, Weezer, Sublime, Simple Plan, Billy Talent, The Beaches, Green Day, The Offspring and Avril Lavigne. In 2023, Foo Fighters personally invited Les Shirley to open their Montreal show at the Verdun Auditorium. In 2025, the trio joined Jimmy Eat World for a European tour.
That road time shows up all over Hail Mary. These are songs built by a band that knows how to leave room for each other while still making an enormous amount of noise.
