Larochelle Returns With Intimate New Single

Quebec singer-songwriter William Larochelle, known simply as Larochelle, has released a new single titled Sweet. Written and self-produced, the track is described by the artist as a tribute to his wife, reflecting on the role tenderness plays in the rhythms of everyday life.

Larochelle has been active on the Canadian music scene for more than 15 years, previously performing with projects including Two Green Cats, Mama Oak, and Twin Moggies. He has played over 300 shows across the country before stepping forward under his own name. His sound draws from blues, folk, and rock traditions, with elements of modern soul layered in.

The new single arrives as he prepares both a forthcoming EP and a solo tour. While Sweet is rooted in personal experience, it sits within a body of work that often tackles broader themes. Larochelle has written about social issues, mental health, and human connection, blending intimate songwriting with subjects that reach beyond the personal.

Influences trace a wide arc, from Rory Gallagher and Ben Harper to The Tragically Hip, as well as more recent inspirations like Black Pumas and The Dip. That combination is audible in his work, where guitar-driven arrangements meet a vocal style that leans into both grit and warmth.

Montreal has long been a hub for musicians balancing independence with ambition, and Larochelle is no exception. By producing Sweet himself, he underscores a commitment to self-determination that has defined his career. Rather than aiming for polished excess, the single maintains a directness that reflects his background in blues and folk while nodding toward contemporary soul.

Sweet is available now on streaming platforms.
